Pay to Play helps pickup, drop-in, and weekly skate organizers collect the player fee before someone can check IN. Instead of chasing payments after the game, players pay from the event and are checked in after payment is complete.
π This feature requires BenchApp PRO and a connected Stripe account. Connect payments before turning this on so player payments can be processed and deposited.
Step 1: Open Fees & Finances
Go to Team Settings.
Open Fees & Finances.
Step 2: Connect Stripe
Find Accept Credit Card Payments.
Click or tap Configure.
Finish the Stripe setup so BenchApp can accept credit card payments for your team.
Need more detail? See Can I accept credit card payments from my players and spares?
Step 3: Set the pickup fee
In Spare Fees, set the Spare Fee amount you charge for pickup or drop-in players.
Turn on Track Spare Fee if you want BenchApp to automatically track the fee when spares are invited.
Step 4: Turn on Pre Pay Required
In Payment Settings, turn on Pre Pay Required.
BenchApp will require players to pay before they can check IN to a game.
Step 5: Choose who covers payment fees
Use Cover Payment Fees to decide how processing fees are handled.
On: the player pays the listed fee, and the processing fee comes out of the amount you receive.
Off: the processing fee is added on top of the player fee.
See What does it cost me to accept credit cards? for more about credit card costs.
Step 6: What players see
When Pay to Play applies to a player, the event RSVP button shows Pay with the amount due instead of a normal check-IN button. After payment is complete, BenchApp checks the player IN.
If the event fills up before the player completes payment, they may be placed on the waitlist instead of getting the spot.
