Use this guide when you're filling your league teams' rosters and want every player to show up once.
This is for league managers. Pick one way per player: add them with their email address, or send them the team's invite link. Doing both for the same person creates a second copy of them on the roster.
Why duplicates happen
BenchApp matches players by email address. A player you add without an email can't be matched to anyone. When that person later joins with the invite link, BenchApp adds them again as a new player.
Step 1: Add players with their email address
Each player you add with an email gets a BenchApp account and an email with their login details. Players who already have an account are linked to the team, and BenchApp tells them by email.
Go to Teams and click or tap a team to open its Roster.
Click Add Players (web) or tap + (app).
Choose Add Multiple Players.
Step 2: Enter each player's name and email
Enter the player's Name and E-mail. In the app, tap Add Player first, then tap Add when you're done.
Change their Class or Access (Access Level in the app) if they aren't a regular player.
On the web, click Add Another Player for each extra row.
Click or tap Save. The button shows how many players you're adding.
Tip: If someone with that email is already on the team this season, BenchApp won't add them again.
Step 3: Import a spreadsheet, one team at a time
A spreadsheet fills one team's roster. It has no team column, so make a separate file for each team.
Open the team's Roster and click Add Players (web) or tap + (app).
Choose Import Players.
Download the Microsoft Excel Template or CSV Template and fill it in. Include each player's email.
Click Upload a file (web) or tap Choose File (app), then review and save the players.
Step 4: Or share the team's invite link
Players who use the link join the team themselves with their own account. Use it for players you haven't added yet.
Go to Teams.
On the web, click Copy Invite Link on the team's row. In the app, touch and hold the team, then tap Copy Invite Link.
Send the link only to that team's players. Each team has its own link.
Step 5: Remove duplicate players
If a player is on a roster twice, keep the copy with their email address and remove the other one.
Open the team's Roster and click or tap one of the copies.
Check the player page for an email entry. The copy without one is the duplicate.
On the duplicate's player page, scroll to the bottom, click or tap Remove, and confirm.
